WHO YOU WILL LEARN WITH

This workshop will be led by the team from the Food & Mood Centre Deakin University Australia, led by Distinguished Professor Felice Jacka OAM, in collaboration with Culinary Medicine UK. The Food & Mood Centre at Deakin University is a world-leading, multi-disciplinary research centre that aims to understand the complex ways in which what we eat influences our brain, mood, and mental health.

• Distinguished Professor Felice Jacka OAM is Director of the Food & Mood Centre at Deakin University, founder of the International Society for Nutritional Psychiatry Research (ISNPR), and a highly cited researcher (2020 and 2021). She is internationally recognised as a global leader in the field of Nutritional Psychiatry.

• Dr Tetyana Rocks is a senior research fellow who leads the education and translation stream within the Food & Mood Centre through the newly established Food & Mood Academy. Dr Rocks is an accredited dietitian with extensive experience in professional education.

• The Culinary Medicine team will provide demonstrations and an opportunity to get into the world-renowned kitchens at Westminster Kingsway college, where you will be guided on knife skills and basic preparation of some gut-healthy themed snacks. With this you get a unique experience to tour the facilities and learn in the kitchens that trained famous alumni like Jamie Oliver and 2 Michelin stared Chef Andrew Wong!

• Chef Vince Kelly is a professional Chef of 30 years, culinary and sustainability lead at Culinary Medicine UK and Manager of the Hospitality Skills Academy at the UK’s number One Hospitality School, Westminster Kingsway College (WKC), he has pioneered several education initiatives at WKC including “Healthy plate, healthy planet”, and a bespoke degree in “Culinary health and nutrition. Vince is passionate about healthy plates and a healthy planet and a proud food waste ambassador.

• Dr Sumi Baruah is a practising GP, Educator and Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners with extensive experience of Primary Care in both the private and public sector. As a certified Health Coach with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, Dr Baruah is passionate about empowering patients to optimise lifestyle factors for better health outcomes, using various tools to help with goal setting and behaviour change.
